What is a Quaker Funeral? Past present and future

12 June @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The End of Life Support Group invites you to an evening of discovery, questions and answers, and sharing. We hope to create a comfortable and friendly space where we can think about appropriate preparation for the end of our life. There will be a chance to experience the traditional Quaker process of ‘meeting for clearness’ during the evening.

The programme will be something like this

  • 5.30 refreshments – sandwiches, cake, tea/coffee

  • 6.00 Talk by Richard Hoare (our Area Meeting archivist) on Quaker traditions around death and funerals, and how they have changed over the centuries, including recent and current trends.

  • 6.30 Questions and answers, initial reflections

  • 7.00 short break for a drink

  • 7.15 experience of a ‘meeting for clearness’

  • 7.45 closing worship

There will be a notice on the board to sign up, so we know numbers for refreshments.
