The aims of the Peace Group are:

1.To take as the basis of its work Friends’ belief in that of God in everyone, thus seeking to promote Friends’ understanding of their Peace Testimony and make it known to others.

2.To educate and inform ourselves and others of the structural causes of violence and world poverty, so involving ourselves in witnessing against war, arms manufacture and sales, the infringement of human rights and the violation of the environment. We see these as being contrary to the will of God.

3.To participate as individuals or as a group in ecumenical or other activities concerning justice, peace and the protection of the environment, taking the initiative where appropriate.

4.To promote peaceful relationships, based on cooperation rather than conflict.

Conscious of the frailty of human nature, including a violent side to all of us and knowing the extreme emotional and spiritual pressures which research and involvement in the field of peace and justice expose us to, the group needs to be a safe place to share our weaknesses and gain comfort, support and nurturing in order again to become more effective workers for peace and justice in our daily lives and in our communities.
