On Thursday, 8th December, Linda Duckenfield is having her ‘au revoir’ service at the Upper Chapel at 5.45, followed by a buffet supper in Channing Hall.

At the Meeting House, Kevin Coogan from Manchester L’Arche will talk with us about how the Manchester L’Arche Community was established. This is also on Thursday, 8th December at 7.30 p.m. With refreshments from 7 p.m. If you’re interested, please come along. More information from Alan Hurford.

John Macmurray Discussion Group: Thur. 15th Dec. 11am-1pm

The John Macmurray discussion group will study the essay by Gordon Ferguson in Friends Quartery Issue thee 2016 (Summer, purple cover), on ‘Knowing’:

Glenthorne - Special Interest Holidays 2017

Glenthorne, the Quaker guest house near Grasmere in the Lake District has just published it’s special interest holidays programme for 2017.

Christmas Wednesday lunch and worship for HARC: 21st Dec. 12 noon

There will be special Wednesday lunch on 21st December of soup and bread with cheese and festive goodies to raise money for HARC – Homeless and Rootless At Christmas. All food will be provided free of charge, so all donations will go to HARC.

This will be at 12 noon, followed by a 30 minute meeting for worship at 1.15pm

Statement on poverty matters from the Area Church Leaders in Covenant together through Churches Together in South Yorkshire (CTSY)

Jesus said that the poor will always be with us (Matthew 26:11), but he didn’t add – so that’s all right then ! Our responsibility to people in poverty never goes away.  We are called to comfort those on the margins and challenge the reasons for poverty.
