Meeting for Eating

Sharing a meal together is good way of getting to know each other. Sheffield Central Quakers have several regular opportunities for this.

Breakfast Every 3rd Sunday we meet at 8.15am for a simple breakfast (tea, coffee, toast and marmalade), followed by meeting for worship at 9 – 10. A lovely way to start the day and the rest of the day is free to use in other ways.

Lunch Every Wednesday. 12.00 for lunch, followed by meeting for worship 1.00 – 1.30. A great opportunity to spend time with friends, enjoy superb home made soups and bread, with cheese, salad, seasonal fruit and home made cake with your tea or coffee. Suggested donation just £1.75. Food charged at the cost of the ingredients and all surplus goes to HARC (Homeless and Rootless at Christmas)

Shared Lunch Sundays at 12.30. (except 1st Sunday, because of business meeting). This is a new venture this year so please do support it. Bring something to share.

Area Meeting Tea Once a month (on 9 months of the year) we meet with Friends from a wider area for what we call our Area Business Meeting. This is a great chance for Quakers from Doncaster, Hope Valley and the two Sheffield meetings to get together. We always enjoy a tea (sandwiches, cakes, etc) together afterwards. Dates for these meetings can easily be obtained from the office, and will be published on this website soon.

From QFP 10.08: “…We depend on those who till the soil, and tend the produce which forms our daily food, so it was good to remember them in thankfulness, and for us to eat in fellowship the food mutually contributed, prepared and served. It was sacramental, in the sense in which Friends so profoundly believe….”
