Notices, 11th December

Children’s play
Next Sunday, the children will present their short Christmas play. There has been a change of plan since the last notice about this and the play will now take place upstairs, in Room 1, after Meeting. There will be time to get a hot drink and a mince pie before settling down to enjoy the entertainment. Afterwards the festivities will continue with some Sheffield carols led by David and Alan.
Please bring mince pies, or other festive fare to share, and take these upstairs before Meeting.

There’s no Inner Quest next week, and Meeting for reflection will be at 12 rather than 11.45.

Thank you to everyone involved in organising yesterday evening’s lovely music and social gathering – it was a fantastic team effort with everyone mucking in to help, and was a lot of fun. Thank you all.

List of members & attenders
Faith Rodger has a draft copy of the new list of Members and attenders in the office. If anyone would like to check that she has their correct details, please ask her. She is hoping that the final copy will be available early in the new year.

Diary dates
Quaker tapestry workshop this Wednesday at 2 p.m. – please see Faith or Margaret for more details.

There will be a meeting of the John Macmurray Discussion Group on Thursday 15th December, 11am – 1pm. We will study Gordon Ferguson’s essay ‘Knowing’ from Friends Quarterly summer 2016, in which Gordon argues that we can better understand how we reach decisions in Meeting for Worship for Business – ‘seeking God’s will in unity’ – by looking at how we understand knowledge and knowing, which draws on John Macmurray (the Quaker philosopher)‘s theory of knowledge.

On Wednesday 21st, December, there will a special Wednesday lunch of soup and bread with cheese and festive goodies to raise money for HARC – Homeless and Rootless At Christmas. A 30 minute meeting for worship will follow at 1.15pm

After Meeting for Worship on Sunday, 25th December, we’ll have a Christmas Dinner together – please let Chrissie Hinde know if you want to attend.

This month’s appeal is for the Fir Vale & Page Hall Food Bank. This link has a little information about them:
