Our friend Gill Buttery says:
“WW1 was to be the war that ended all wars. The number of deaths of young
soldiers and auxiliaries was astronomical as can be seen from the battlefield
sites and cemeteries on the Somme and France in general.
The two plays explore what soldiers, nurses and civilians had to suffer – firstly at the Somme and
then on trying to make sense of the carnage at the end of WW1 in 1918. Dave
Oxley’s and Gill Buttery’s plays examine the effect this war had on everyone
involved.”
