Notices 19th June 2016

Inner Quest
Paul Hunt has let us know that there is a gap in the Inner Quest schedule for 17th July – does anyone have a discussion topic they would like to introduce and lead? Please see Paul.

Spiritual Review (Jenni will give this notice in meeting)
At our recent special meeting for worship for business we agreed to start a process of spiritual review exploring the spiritual life of the meeting and our experience of worship. A small group of elders and overseers are forming a “core group” to take this forward. We would welcome any other Friends to that group for whom this particularly chimed and who would be willing to be involved. Also, if you would be willing to share your skills as a facilitator that would be very welcome. If you are interested please chat to Jenni Crisp or any other elder/ overseer .

Sheffield Pride: St Mark’s, Broomhill, have booked a stall at Sheffield Pride on 30th July – they are asking if Friends would like to share the space and help with it. Please let Clerks know if you are interested in this.

Looking forward
Following on from the previous ‘Right to Good Food’ event in November, come to find out more about plans for a major national ‘End Hunger UK’ campaign, being jointly planned by an emerging alliance of national organisations including Church Action on Poverty, Oxfam, Sustain, Trussell Trust, Fareshare, Magic Breakfast and Child Poverty Acton Group. Hear more about the campaign, meet with other people from across Sheffield and beyond who share your views, and find out how you can get involved. This meeting is at the Jesus Centre on Thursday 30th June 1.30 – 4.00 at the Jesus Centre, Broomspring Lane. This is a free public event, but they are asking people to book by following this link:

Our next Area Meeting will be held in Doncaster on Saturday 9th July.

First aid for babies and young children
The Children and Young People’s Work Committee gave a previous notice about holding a first aid course for babies and young children, to be run by the British Red Cross. The course is designed for parents, grandparents, babysitters and carers and we thought that other Friends at Sheffield Meeting might be interested. The original date was July 2nd but we have decided to postpone this until the autumn, with the hope that this will be convenient for more people. The new date is November 5th. Please contact Jayne Herrick or any of the other members of CYPWC for more details or to add your name to the list. Jayne will check with those who signed up for the July 2nd date whether they will be able to make the new date.

A couple of domestic notices:
There have been a couple of intruders in the meeting house at quiet times in recent weeks, one resulting in the theft of a small amount of money. Could Friends please remember to take extra care of their personal belongings and put away any items of value that belong in the meeting house after using them.

Social space noise: Friends are gently reminded that Meeting for Worship has started as soon as Friends start to gather in the Meeting room. Some Friends are finding sounds from the social space a bit intrusive and we therefore ask that Friends are mindful of this, and of coming into Meeting with hearts and minds prepared”.
