Notices 22nd May

This week:

The mental health sub-group of the Social Justice & Equality Group is meeting on 29th May after Meeting for Worship – the focus is to look at contributions of friends to a booklet of writing on experiences of being sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Further ahead
There will be a Special Meeting for Worship for Business to be held on 5th June. Elders and Overseers are bringing to the meeting the idea of a spiritual review to involve the whole meeting. The special business meeting will start as part of our worship at 11 a.m., finishing at 12 noon, specifically to try to involve everybody within the Meeting in the consideration. The normal Meeting for Worship for Business will continue after a break. If you have agenda items, please get them to the Clerks this week to allow them time to prepare.

Hathersage swimming: Sunday 5th June 5 – 6pm. We will have sole use of the pool and everyone is invited – we hope you will want to join us to make it more fun – and to make it financially viable! Tickets are £4 adults and £2 for children in advance – and will be on sale after meeting today and for the next few weeks from Rosie Carnall or Mark Lallemand. We are keen to break even so please do buy a ticket – any excess proceeds will be given back to meeting funds. Any remaining tickets will be on sale on 5th June after meeting at a slightly increased price (£5/£3) – buy early to save money! You can also email Rosie (rosiecarnall@yahoo.co.uk) to request tickets too.

CRESST the Peaks – a bike ride on Sunday 17 July
There’s something for everyone on the CRESST the Peaks ride. We’ve a traffic free route of up to 27km (17 miles) sandwiched in the middle of a more challenging route from Sheffield, giving a total ride of about 63 km (39 miles). There’s a picnic lunch stop at Heatherdene car park too – even if you’re not a cyclist you are welcome to join us for the picnic.
Please tell your family and friends about the ride, perhaps by sharing our Facebook event. We think it’ll be a great day out for everyone.
Visit the CRESST website www.cresst.org.uk for more details and to register.

Friends are gently reminded that Meeting for Worship has started as soon as Friends start to gather in the Meeting room. Some Friends are finding sounds from the social space a bit intrusive and we therefore ask that Friends are mindful of this, and of coming into Meeting with hearts and minds prepared.
