Dates for the Diary

The Quaker Faith & Practice reading group will meet at the home of Kiri Smith and Richard King in Crookes on Sunday 8h May at 7.30, looking at Chapters 16 and 22: Close Relationships. All are welcome.

On Saturday, 14th May a vigil will be held at the Barkers Pool cenotaph between 4 – 5 p.m. for International Conscienctious Objector’s Day. This is being organised by SCRAP – Sheffield Creative Action for Peace, who meet here at the Meeting House every other Thursday afternoon from 1.30 – 4.00. Churches Together in S Yorkshire  Spring Forum will be held on Saturday 14 May at Darnall Baptist Church, Darnall Road S9 5 AL. The topic for discussion is “Responding to the demands on churches because of welfare changes”. If you are able to attend, please let Kate Napier know – all are welcome to attend.

Sunday 15th May: it’s All Age Worship, where we have a semi-programmed meeting for worship in the main meeting room.

Area Meeting will be held that afternoon, 15th May at Hope Valley Meeting, the Quaker Community at Bamford. It starts at 1.15.

Sunday 15th should also have been the Inner Quest session after meeting – this has been moved to Sunday 22nd May on the theme of “What am I doing when I am holding somebody in the Light?”

Other notices
We’ve been contacted by Adam Thornton, who has recently moved to Sheffield from London and who organizes Nordic Walking groups. Nordic walking was popular with London Friends and he is wondering whether any Sheffield Friends would be interested in joining such a group. Interested Friends are invited to contact the clerks.

Many Friends will be aware of the work of Ecumenical Accompaniers in Israel / Palestine – a current accompanier is calling for urgent action around the continued construction of the separation wall – it’s next phase of building will cut off 400 families in the Cremisan Valley from their land and livelihoods.
