Cleaning the Meeting House in August

We are looking for helpers to do the annual cleaning of the Meeting House with us.
You may have already noticed that the Meeting House is already looking a little brighter and cleaner – this is because we have brought the cleaning In House and it is now done primarily by Alison and Chriss, with help from Linsay, Anthony and Christine.
Any time that you can spare would be fantastic
Please give your name to the office or sign the sheet in the GF social Area if you feel you can help us. We are looking for people who can help with the general maintenance of the building as well as cleaning.

Wednesday lunch and Meeting For Worship

Please note that from next Wednesday, 29th June and for July and August, there will be no lunch provided before the meeting for worship at 1pm.

You are invited to join with friends from 12.30pm in the social space on the first floor – and hopefully in the garden – when you can bring a sandwich or other lunch for yourself or to share. Meeting for Worship will continue at 1pm in the library for half and hour.

Free online course about money and society - August 21st for 4 weeks

From our friend Gordon Ferguson.
In the spring I went on an online course called ‘Money and Society’, which I found extremely valuable in helping me get my head round how money and society interact and so enable me to understand better what the problems are and how to make it work better.

The course is being repeated this autumn, starting on August 21st, for four weeks, and requires around five hours work each week. You can find out all about it and enrol from here:

Open meeting: Possible L'Arche community in Sheffield

A small group of Quakers has been considering whether we might be able to form the starting ‘seed group’, which is the first stage of the establishment of a L’Arche community. There is nothing like it in or near Sheffield. The nearest one is Manchester. We will be having a meeting on

Monday 11th July, 7.30 – 9.00pm, at the meeting house

The following website gives some idea of what communities there are in other parts of UK.

www.larche.org.uk

Essentially, they are a form of community living for adults with learning difficulties, based on a spiritual ethos.
